OUR STORY

From 1990 to 2010 I was running a Gaelic animation studio- West Highland Animation- here. When this closed multi-talented Hungarian joiner and builder Khrisztian worked to convert our animation facilities into accomodation and our Hostel was born.

Outer Space

Les' place is simply spectacular! For those looking for simple accommodation but with exuberant nature, this is the best place to stay and explore the Glencoe area. I won't repeat about the road that is already clear in the description and other comments because this is just a detail that makes the experience more picturesque. The cabin is rustic and had all the amenities I needed to have a perfect stay. The Les cabin is a unique experience and I really recommend it.

Hi-King

Hi-King Hut was one of the best places we have ever stayed. It's true that the forestry track is not for sports cars! Our car is a normal 2WD estate and managed fine taking our time. It took about 20mins from Balqhuidder. The plus side is that the intrepid nature of the track means that there are almost no cars and very few other people once you arrive. There is a kind of peace and quiet that is very hard to find. Our kids aged 6 and 9 were able to have the run of the place without any worries at all. We had a wonderful adventure in Les's rowing boat and our visit to Monachyle Mhor (the hotel across the Glen) was very enjoyable. The river was too high for us to get across the stepping stones so Les was kind enough to ferry us across and pick us up later. What a host! Also lovely that the place has a strong Gaelic connection which gave our kids, who are at Gaelic school, the chance to use a bit of the language and see it being used in a non-school setting. A truly fantastic family trip!

Mother Teat

This is a special place, and Les is a great host who went out of her way to make us welcome. It is a place for people who love wild country and can cope without city luxuries and amenities. You really need to stay for a few days, and really slow down and feel the environment.
